The Best Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Mixers and Ingredients

The right ingredients can transform an average cocktail into an unforgettable one. Like traditional gin, Sobrii is best enjoyed mixed in a cocktail. While Sobrii is wonderful paired simply with high-quality tonic water, there are endless ways to get creative and experiment with making more artful cocktails. To help inspire your at-home mixology, here are some of our favourite ingredients and cocktails to make with Sobrii.

Fresh Fruit and Juice

Fresh fruit and juice are lovely options for adding colour and flavour to your cocktail. A deceptively simple addition, fruit adds a touch of sweetness and acidity that can take a basic drink to the next level. Fruit can also be a great way to incorporate the flavours of the season into your cocktail. For example, you could take advantage of fresh summer strawberries by muddling them into a Strawberry Jalapeno 0-Mule, add some peaches into this refreshing Peach 0-Spritz, or finish this adaptable White 0 Cosmo with any seasonal berries.

Bitters

Bitters are sometimes described as the “seasoning” of the cocktail world. Much like spices and herbs can enhance the flavour of a dish, bitters can add complexity and balance to your cocktail. If you’re going completely alcohol-free, keep in mind that most bitters have some alcohol content but many people are comfortable consuming them in non-alcoholic cocktails since you’re typically only adding a few drops to your drink.

Angostura bitters are a classic aromatic bitter that can add a hint of earthy, herbal flavour to a simple mix of Sobrii and tonic water. Try using lemon tonic water to create an alcohol-free take on a Pink Gin Highball. Alternatively, add a few drops of orange bitters to Sobrii and tonic water to bring a spicy, fruity note to your drink.

Syrups

Syrups offer another way to add subtle sweetness and depth to your cocktail. You can buy pre-made syrups, but they’re also surprisingly easy to make at home and endlessly adaptable.

Simple syrup is an excellent cocktail basic to have on hand, made by dissolving a solution of equal parts granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Try using it to balance the tartness of the lemon juice in the Kiwi No-Jito. You can take your simple syrup up a notch by adding a flavouring element while the sugar and water are cooking, such as spices, herbs, or fruit. Citrus zest, for example, makes a delightful syrup that pairs nicely with Sobrii.

Dealcoholized Wine

The non-alcoholic beverage market is growing every day and some of the many other excellent non-alcoholic alternatives available can make beautiful matches for Sobrii when recreating your favourite traditional cocktail.

For example, our Sobrii Spritz incorporates a non-alcoholic bianco vermouth, such as Roots Divino Bianco Non-Alcoholic Apéritif. The same brand also makes a red vermouth that’s delicious paired with Sobrii in an alcohol-free negroni. Or you can mix Sobrii with your favourite dealcoholized sparkling wine to make a fizzy, celebratory French Floral 75.5.
