Sobrii Spring Garnish Guide

Spring is in the air and we’re ushering in the warm weather by giving our non-alcoholic bar cart a refresh. Whether you’re making a tried-and-true non-alcoholic gin and tonic or experimenting with a new alcohol-free cocktail recipe, these easy garnishes will make you feel like a home bartending pro, plus help put you in the spring spirit.

Dried Rose Petals

Celebrate the blooming of roses and other spring flowers by garnishing your cocktail with some dried rose petals. You can easily find pre-made dried rose petals in stores or online, but you can also make them at home. Arrange some fresh rose petals on a baking tray and dry them in the oven for about 30 minutes at a low temperature. Dried rose petals make a pretty garnish for any cocktail, but they’re a particularly lovely complement to the rose cordial used in the Sobrii Rose Collins.

Toasted Peeps

The chilly early days of spring call for warm, comforting bevies like this Spike Hot Chocolate made with Sobrii 0-Tequila. Rather than garnishing the drink with marshmallows, add a playful Easter-inspired spin by finishing this non-alcoholic cocktail with toasted marshmallow Peeps. Like classic marshmallows, Peeps become pleasantly ooey-gooey and lightly caramelized when toasted. To make the garnish, add some Peeps to a bamboo skewer and then toast them using a kitchen torch – or broil them in the oven for a few minutes – until they’re slightly browned.

Infused Strawberries

Celebrate the beginning of the strawberry season in May but adding some infused strawberries to your non-alcoholic cocktail. Strawberries are delicious when soaked in traditional alcohol like vodka, rum, or wine and you can make an alcohol-free version of this tasty garnish by infusing your strawberries with non-alcoholic sparkling wine or rose. Simply pour your non-alcoholic wine of choice over a bowl of fresh strawberries until they’re fully submerged. Let them soak in the fridge for at least one hour or overnight. Pop a few infused strawberries into an alcohol-free cocktail, such as this Strawberry Jalapeno 0-Mule.

Edible Gold

Whatever you’re celebrating this spring, a little edible gold garnish can add extra glamour to your toasts. Simply sprinkle a few flakes over the surface of your finished cocktail. Edible gold makes a nice contrast to the frothy vegan foamer topping on this Sober Clover, for example. Alternatively, you can use edible gold to create a cocktail rim. Take your 0-Margarita to the next level by mixing some edible gold with salt. Wet the edge of your cocktail glass with some fresh lime, and then turn it upside down and press it gently into the salt and edible gold mixture to create a sparkly cocktail rim.

Butterfly Pea Flower Ice Cubes

Pay homage to the vibrant colours of spring blossoms by garnishing your non-alcoholic cocktail with some butterfly pea flower ice cubes. As the beautiful purple-blue cubes melt into your drink, they’ll infuse it with the same dramatic colour. To make the cubes, steep loose leaf butterfly pea flower tea in hot water for about 5 to 7 minutes, then pour the tea into an ice cube tray and let it freeze overnight. This garnish works best for neutral-coloured drinks, like an alcohol-free gin mule made with Sobrii 0-Gin, ginger beer, and lime.
